Ammons Development Group for opening up their neighborhood to us for the 1st-ever triathlon in Wake Forest.
Splish.com for designing my awesome swimsuit! I only wear Splish.com suits when I swim. People recognize me just because of my swimsuits. Go to Splish.com and design your own swimsuit. I made aTexas A&M and a Texas flag swimsuit. Check them out!
The Wake Weekly for letting me use the picture from the Lake Royale Triathlon. That was my first photo in my cool Splish.com swimsuit.
friends and family
Richard: My husband. If you weren't behind me on this, I'd never finish. Thank you for all the weekends of training (they're coming!), your encouragement, health suggestions, and for making me eat! I promise I'll eat while I'm training (he never thinks I eat, but I eat all day long!) We'll be celebrating 10 years of marriage right before the race. I can only imagine how exciting the next 10 years will be. I love you, very much!
Polly and John: My children. You are my reason for being here. I am so blessed to have 2 wonderful children who already love to play triathlon with me! Knowing you'll be at the race gives me such motivation! Polly, you can have my medal when I finish.
Grandma Polly: My grandma. You are my angel on earth! I only wish I could have you to talk to during my training races. Your insight and life experiences will never tire me out. I love how strong yet sensitive you are. I hope I turn out just like you (so far it looks that way!)
Pat: My mom. How do you thank your mom! Wow! She is the one who introduced me to The Smile Train. Thank you for always teaching us about service, perseverance, and even more so now - about parenting. Thank you for worrying about me, supporting me, guiding me and most of all loving me all the time. You are such an inspiration to me.
Bill: My dad. Thank you for always supporting me in my adventures and being as wide-eyed and excited about it as I am. Your support and belief in what I'm doing means more than you may think. Thank you for always being my big buddy. I cherish our time together when we can just be the little buddy and big buddy together. Just me and my dad.
Elizabeth: My sister. We have always been active together from our marathons to our pullup/pushup/dip workouts. I am motivated every time I see you to stick with my goals, make a plan, and take care of my self in addition to my kids. You are the best sister I could have.
Will: My brother. I love your passion and dedication to what you do, especially your music. You inspire me to hang on to my hobby (athletics, running, triathlon) even when life gets a little crazy. You understand la vida loca, don't you!
Kimberly: My cousin, who works in the dental industry, lives in Florida and is actively recruiting her friends and clients to help The Smile Train! We're on our way to helping 40 kids! Let's do it!
Daniel: My cousin. Thank you for making my awesome swim, bike, run graphic at the bottom of the page and my happy face logo.
Coach Knight and the late Coach Petchersky: My first real athletic role models who gave me such a positive attitude about sports and taught me to enjoy sports first and foremost. I do love what I'm doing even though I know I may never win a race! I think about them often during training and don't think I'd be near the athlete I am without their inspiration.
Coach Duval: My first real swim coach. She took me as a summer league swimmer and turned me into a year-round high-school swimmer. She didn't know it was going to be a lifetime hobby. I was never the fastest but Coach always let me swim a few events in every meet. Thanks, Coach!
Jessi: My wonderful friend who encourages me, watches my kids when Richard is out of town so I can train, and lets me just be me all the time. It is wonderful to have a friend who completes my sentences, knows my thoughts, and loves my family almost like your own.
Cathy: My prayerful friend who continues to lift me up to God for strength, stamina, health, and determination to reach my goal. Thank you for being there when I need to take a deep breath and giving me that light and encouragement when times may seem dark. You are a blessing.
The Girls on the Greens: My wacky neighbors who think I am crazy. Believe it or not, every time you ask me about my run or bike ride it motivates me to do well so I won't let you down. Having friends that I can talk to and hear encouraging words means so much to me. Thank you all for your support!
My Missouri Girls: Thank you for helping me get to this point! I have a great set of girls in Kansas City who helped me through some tough parenting times, awesome girl times, and helped me begin to find me amidst life as a mommy. I couldn't have done this without your support during my needy years. I'm paying it forward!
Lakeside Swim Team: I started swim team when I was 5 and had the greatest group of friends and parents supporting us all the time. Thank you to my fellow summer-leaguers and all the coaches - Coach Craft, Coach Duvall, Jane - to all the big kids I looked up to and to my friends with whom I grew up!
