My passion is providing a safe and fun environment for people to find the love for sport!
Race Consulting
One of the questions I often get, is "how do we get started?". Well - I can help you answer that question! I do Race Consulting and contracting. Whether it is a fun run, triathlon, duathlon, or bike ride I can help you with those first few steps.
As you delve into the event a bit more and find you still need or want help, I can be there and we can customize my involvement to meet your needs AND your budget... I'm familiar with what it takes to do a race on a minimal budget.
Tri 101 & Speaking
One of my most favorite topics is beginner triathletes! There is so much to tell them and so much information available that it is easy to get confused. I would love the opportunity to come speak to your group about what it really takes to do a triathlon.
I've been in this sport of running and biking since 1995 (and counting) and I've been in the water since age 4. Over this time I've gained a realistic perspective on getting started.
Whether it is a community meting, a formal tri club informational, or even just an educational session at your office - My presentation can be catered to your time and audience.
Let's Talk
I look forward to seeing how I can be of help to you.

About Turning Miles into Smiles
Turning Miles into Smiles is a fundraising and race development program founded by Rebecca Warriner to increase awareness of and raise financial support for charities that have an immediate and tangible impact on a community. Each race produced by Turning Miles Into Smiles strives to send 100 percent of its registration fees to a charity of choice. Since 2008, Turning Miles into Smiles has supported The Smile Train and Backpack Buddies.

About The Smile Train Triathlon
The Smile Train Triathlon is a USA Triathlon sprint distance race comprised of a 250-meter pool swim, 12-mile bike, and a 3.1-mile run. This race provides beginners with a safe environment to experience a triathlon while providing a fast bike course and challenging run course to the more experienced triathlete. Each year, 400 spots are filled, and 100 percent of the registration fees are sent to The Smile Train. Since 2008, The Smile Train Tri has donated more than $50,000 to The Smile Train!
Race Summary: The Smile Train Tri
The BASF Smile Train Tri is a sprint distance tri comprised of a 250-meter pool swim, 12-mile out-and-back bike, and a 3.1 mile out-and-back run. Swimmers are seeded based on a provided 100-meter swim time. The bike course is relatively flat with 2 climbs at the beginning. The run course has 3 aid stations placed at miles 0.75, 1.5, and 2.25. Our post race party will have vendors selling merchandise, fitness games for our young spectators, a check presentation to The Smile Train representative at our race, a series of fun awards (first & last to register, farthest distance, most funds raised, etc.). This is truly a tri with a purpose!
100% of the registration fee goes to the charity, no exceptions. A new fundraising program is available to athletes who want to contribute more to The Smile Train. Details can be found at www.milesintosmiles.com. The Smile Train provides cleft lip and cleft palate surgery to children in underdeveloped countries. It only takes $250 to provide surgery for a child and change their life forever.
About The Buddy Run
The Buddy Run is a USA Track & Field certified and chip-timed 5k (3.1mile) run followed by family-friendly 1-mile walk and a 50yard dash for children 6 & under. This race brings together the community to collect food donations and raise money for The Backpack Buddy programs in Wake Forest, Wakefield, and Rolesville. The Backpack Buddies provides backpacks of food over the weekend to children who otherwise may not have a regular meal – or no meals at all – until they return to school. In its first year, The Buddy Run donated $3,400 in gift cards and enough food to fill the shelves for our local programs.
Race Summary: The Buddy Run
The Buddy Run is a USA Track & Field certified 5k course held in Heritage Wake Forest. The run is an out-and-back course with an aid station at the turn around point. Following the 5K, a non-competitive 1-mile family walk/run begins. At the conclusion of the 1-mile walk all children 6&under are invited to do the Itty-Bitty Buddy Dash. The day of the race a food drive is held to collection food items appropriate for The Backpack Buddies, our beneficiary. All items collected from the food drive are divided up and given to the schools’ program sponsors.
It is our goal to send 75% of the registration fees to the charity in the form of gift cards to local grocery stores. This allows the programs to restock their shelves throughout the year and purchase specific food items as they are needed. Details can be found at www.milesintosmiles.com. The Backpack Buddies is a completely local and volunteer driven organization providing children with backpacks of food over the weekend. Without The Backpack Buddies, these children may not have a regular meal – or a meal at all – until they return to school on Monday.
